Khwaja Garib Nawaz Miracles Famous Stories in Ajmer

One of the most well-known Khwaja Garib Nawaz miracles is connected with his arrival in Ajmer and shows his calm nature and spiritual strength.

First Miracle on the Land of Ajmer

One of the earliest stories connected with Hazrat Khwaja Garib Nawaz (R.A.) after arriving in Ajmer describes an incident with the royal camel keepers of Raja Prithviraj Chauhan.

When the saint reached Ajmer with a few companions, they rested under trees outside the city. That place was used for keeping the king’s camels, and the camel keepers asked them to leave immediately.

Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (R.A.) quietly moved to another place without any argument. Before leaving, he said calmly that the camels would not stand up.

The next day, when the camel keepers tried to move the animals, they were surprised. The camels remained sitting and refused to stand despite many attempts.

When the king came to know about this, he advised his men to apologise. After they requested forgiveness, Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz (R.A.) said that the camels would stand again.

When the keepers returned, they saw that all the camels had stood up normally.

This incident is remembered as one of the early Khwaja Garib Nawaz miracles, showing patience, humility, and spiritual power.

The Miracle of Ana Sagar Water

Another well known story relates to Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer. According to traditional accounts, the followers of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz used to collect water from the lake for their daily needs.

When opposition arose, soldiers were ordered to prevent them from taking water. Seeing this situation, the companions returned to the saint and explained what had happened.

Hazrat Khawaja Gharib Nawaz then went himself with a small container to the lake. The story says that when he filled the container with water, the water of the lake seemed to disappear, causing great concern among the people of the city.

Realising the seriousness of the situation, the local authorities approached the saint and asked for forgiveness. When the matter was resolved peacefully, the water returned again.

This event is remembered among devotees as the Ana Sagar miracle of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz.

Revival of a Dead Person

Another story connected with the saint tells of an old woman who came to him in grief. Her son had been killed unjustly by a local authority, and she asked the saint for justice.

Moved by her pain, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti went with her to the place where the body was lying. According to the narration, he prayed to Allah and asked that if the young man had been killed without guilt, his life should be restored.

By Allah’s will, the young man came back to life. The mother and her son expressed their gratitude and devotion to the saint.

This story is often quoted by devotees as an example of the spiritual power of sincere prayer.

The Story of the Repentant Attacker

One day a man came to meet Khwaja Gharib Nawaz pretending to be a devotee. The saint immediately understood his intention and told him calmly to fulfil the purpose for which he had come.

The man felt deep regret for his actions and asked for forgiveness. After this incident he changed his life and became a follower of the saint.

This story is remembered as an example of the saint’s compassion and forgiveness.

In the story, Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaz appeared and addressed the unborn child in the woman’s womb, asking the truth to be revealed. By Allah’s will the truth became clear and the accusation was proven false.

The woman admitted her mistake, and the honour of the saint’s disciple was restored.

Khawaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A.) lived a very simple life and often ate little himself, yet he ensured that large amounts of food were distributed among the poor.
